Is Piper your last name?
Apparently it’s a derivative of a last name from when last names indicated your occupation. (As in, a flute player named Zach is Zach Piper.)
When I think of potential origins though, what comes to mind is smoking pipes, so I’ve added a few quotes I found about pipe smoking below. One of my favorite authors, C.S. Lewis, smoked a pipe every night and since I’m hoping to be nearly as awesome as him in a decade or two, I may have to become a Piper myself (the smoke kind, not the flute kind.)
I know, I know, pipe smoking is not popular, but these quotes are kind of fun - I think similar things might be said about coffee or tea drinking today. I wonder what people 100 years from now will say about those habits.
